ZTE Nubia is on the verge of reaching a new milestone with its upcoming Nubia Z80 Ultra, according to an exclusive leak from a reliable tipster on Weibo. The device is rumored to feature Qualcomm’s next-generation Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 chipset (codenamed SM8850), a substantial 7,100mAh battery, and an enhanced under-display front camera.
Nubia Z80 Ultra: What We Know So Far
According to the reliable tipster Digital Chat Station, Nubia is testing a “1.5K full-screen” display with an upgraded under-panel selfie camera—a feature the brand has consistently refined since 2023. While rivals like Samsung and Xiaomi relegate under-display tech to niche foldables, Nubia appears determined to prove its place in the mainstream.
The most impressive feature? A single-cell silicon battery reportedly hitting 7,100mAh in lab tests. For context, that’s nearly 16% larger than the Nubia Z70 Ultra’s 6,150mAh cell and dwarfs the Galaxy S26 Ultra’s rumored 5,000mAh pack. If true, the Z80 Ultra could last two full days on a single charge—a claim that would force Apple, Samsung, and Google to rethink their “all-day battery” marketing.
While Nubia hasn’t confirmed specifications, the leak ties theNubia Z80 Ultra to Qualcomm’s SM8850 platform—almost certainly the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2. Built on TSMC’s cutting-edge 3nm process, early benchmark leaks suggest it could reach up to 3.8 million on the Antutu score, which is up to 50% performance improvement compared to the Z70 Ultra.
The Z80 Ultra’s camera setup has also been leaked, with Digital Chat Station hinting at a 50MP main sensor (likely a 1-inch-type) and a periscope telephoto lens. However, all eyes are on the front camera. While early under-display iterations struggled with hazy selfies, Nubia claims its fourth-generation technology finally balances screen uniformity and image quality. Early adopters of the Z70 Ultra praised the invisible camera’s novelty, but critics called it a “compromise.”
If Nubia sticks to its pattern, the Z80 Ultra will debut in November 2025, following the schedule of previous models. Under-display cameras remain divisive, but the massive battery capacity is expected not to add bulk due to silicon-carbon technology.
