If today’s New York Times Connections grid has you feeling stuck, you are not alone. Puzzle #1232 brings some clever word groups that might not be obvious right away. Here is what you need to know.

Here are helpful hints to guide you through today’s puzzle, with the full answers listed further down.

    Today’s Connections Strategy & Commentary

Today’s puzzle covers informal verbs for stealing, well‑known pasta varieties, fictional characters named Tom, and everyday objects that you can snap. The Yellow group features slang‑style verbs linked to taking something without permission. Many players will recognize pocket and swipe quickly, though boost and palm can take an extra moment to connect together.

The Green category lists distinct pasta shapes. Elbow and shell are familiar to most people, while bow tie and wagon wheel may feel less obvious to casual players. The Blue set includes fictional characters whose full or well‑known given name is Tom.

The Purple group is the hardest of the four. Each entry names something that you can physically snap. There is no shared leading or trailing word here; the connection is the action itself, so it is easy to overlook the link at first glance.
