Apple CEO Tim Cook hosted The Pokémon Company team at Apple Park today, sharing a playful video on social media that showed Pikachu exploring the campus grounds.
Cook outlined three agenda items for the visit in his post on X: introducing the Pokémon team to John Ternus, discussing gaming, and politely asking Pikachu to stay out of the pond. “Two out of three were accomplished,” Cook joked, implying Pikachu did approach the water feature despite the request.
The video shows the Pikachu mascot wandering through Apple Park, dancing under the rainbow arch, reaching for apples in the orchard, and eventually heading toward the pond. The footage also includes appearances by Cook, incoming Apple CEO John Ternus, and The Pokémon Company CEO Tsunekazu Ishihara.
The visit comes just days before Ternus officially takes over as Apple CEO on September 1, 2026, as a leadership transition at the world’s most valuable company. The timing also coincides with the 2026 Pokémon World Championships, which begin August 28 in San Francisco.
While the exact details of the gaming discussions were not disclosed, the meeting signals ongoing engagement between Apple and one of the world’s largest entertainment franchises. Apple has been expanding its gaming ecosystem across iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple Vision Pro, while The Pokémon Company continues to see massive success across its mobile and console titles.
The Pokémon franchise, launched in 1996, remains one of the highest-grossing media properties of all time. Its mobile title Pokémon GO, developed by Niantic, has been one of the most successful apps on Apple’s App Store for nearly a decade.
No announcements regarding new collaborations or exclusive titles were made during the visit.
