RedMagic has officially locked in the launch date for its next flagship gaming tablet. The RedMagic Gaming Tablet 5 Pro will be unveiled in China on June 30 at 3:00 PM, the brand confirmed in a post on its official Weibo page.

This new model does something no RedMagic tablet has done before. It completely drops the air cooling system used on the older Gaming Tablet 3 Pro and switches straight to liquid cooling instead. Air cooling always needed open vents to work, which left gaps in the design and made the back look less put together. With liquid cooling, there are no vents at all, so the whole body looks much cleaner and flows as one piece.

The cooling pipe is actually built right into the “REDMAGIC” lettering on the back. It runs in one straight line directly over the main processor, which is totally different from the round cooling plates RedMagic has used on its phones for years. This setup spreads heat out across more of the tablet and keeps things cooler for much longer when you are playing or working hard. And yes, it still has iconic RGB lighting built in.

You can spot the main spec easily enough. The Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen5 logo sits front and center, so there is no mystery about what chip is inside. Pairing that top‑end processor with serious cooling should solve a problem a lot of power users know too well. Up until now, PC emulators were never really practical on tablets. They pull too much power and throw off so much heat that performance drops off fast. This might finally be the device that can run them smoothly and consistently.

For context, this tablet replaces the RedMagic Gaming Tablet 3 Pro, a model that went by RedMagic Astra when it launched globally. Based on that naming pattern, this new version will almost certainly be called the RedMagic Astra 2 once it arrives outside China. Some tipsters on Weibo say the device has already passed both network access and 3C certification in China, meaning all official requirements have been met.

Furthermore, pre‑orders are now available in China through major e‑commerce platforms. RedMagic is also holding a promotion alongside the launch event: users who share the official announcement and leave a comment sharing their thoughts on the new product will be entered to win a RedMagic portable cooler. The device comes in white and black colorways while the storage options has not yet been revealed.

Full specs and final pricing will all be announced live during the event on June 30. If you have been waiting for a gaming tablet that actually handles heat well, this one looks really promising.
