Snap has officially unveiled its latest augmented reality glasses, called SPECS, priced at $2,195 (approximately ₱132,250). According to the brand, pre‑orders are now open in the US, UK and France with a refundable deposit, and shipments are expected to begin this fall.
One of the main highlights of Snap SPECS is its dual waveguide displays with LCoS projection, a 46‑degree field of view and 37 pixels per degree for clear, detailed visuals. Electrochromic lenses adjust automatically to ambient light, while motion latency comes in at just 13 milliseconds. Weighing 226 grams and compatible with prescription lenses, the glasses use a dual‑chip setup and four cameras to enable accurate head tracking and controller‑free hand control.
The device also features open-ear stereo speakers that deliver spatial audio, plus a six-microphone array that suppresses background noise. Battery life reaches up to 45 minutes with AR active, and a charging case is included. Powered by Snap OS built specifically for spatial computing, the glasses work natively with the full library of Snapchat AR Lenses.
Comparison to vivo Vision and Apple Vision Pro
Next to the vivo Vision and Apple Vision Pro, Snap SPECS take a very different approach, focusing on lightweight augmented reality glasses rather than a full mixed‑reality headset. Weighing only around 132–136 grams depending on size, they run on dual Snapdragon processors, offer a 51‑degree field of view, and use see‑through AR displays that overlay digital content directly onto the real world. Designed for mobility and everyday wear, they let users access navigation, AI assistance and AR experiences without the bulk of a traditional headset.
In contrast, the vivo Vision and Apple Vision Pro are built around deeply immersive mixed‑reality experiences, with significantly higher‑resolution displays and more advanced spatial computing capabilities. The vivo Vision is reported to feature dual 3840 × 3552 Micro‑OLED displays and weighs about 398 g, while Apple Vision Pro uses ultra‑high‑resolution Micro‑OLED panels, sophisticated eye tracking and powerful Apple silicon to deliver premium productivity and entertainment. Both are considerably heavier than Snap SPECS and intended mainly for indoor use, whereas Snap’s glasses place the emphasis on portability, comfort and natural AR interaction in the real world.
