Pearl Abyss is set to release Crimson Desert worldwide on March 19, 2026, ending years of waiting since the game was first revealed in 2019.

The title was later showcased again during The Game Awards 2020, but faced multiple delays before locking in its final release schedule. It now stands as the studio’s latest major project following Black Desert, though it takes a different direction.
Crimson Desert is a single-player, open-world action-adventure game, not an MMO. While it shares the same universe as Black Desert, the focus here is on a structured narrative and solo experience.
The story is set in the continent of Pywel and follows Kliff, a mercenary leader trying to regroup his faction, the Greymanes, after a devastating ambush. As the group is scattered, Kliff must track down survivors and rebuild while navigating a region marked by conflict and instability.
The game will launch at the same time globally, with regional access depending on time zones. North America will get it at 3:00 PM PT / 6:00 PM ET on March 19, while players in Europe and the United Kingdom will gain access later that evening. In Asia, including Japan and South Korea, it will be available on the morning of March 20.
It will be released on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Steam (PC), and Mac, including support for Apple silicon devices. Pre-loading has been available since March 17.
In terms of storage, players will need significant space. The base download is around 84 GB, with an additional 48 GB day-one patch, bringing the total requirement to roughly 150 GB. An SSD is required, particularly for PC.
System requirements scale depending on performance targets. Minimum specs aim for upscaled 1080p at 30 FPS, while recommended hardware targets smoother performance at higher resolutions. Higher settings, including 4K at 60 FPS, will require newer GPUs and processors.

The game features large-scale boss fights, open-world exploration, and traversal mechanics such as climbing and aerial movement. Pearl Abyss has also highlighted dynamic environments and systems designed to make exploration less linear.
With release just days away, Crimson Desert marks Pearl Abyss’s move into a full single-player title, carrying over the scale of Black Desert but shifting to a more focused, story-driven approach.
