Details posted on Weibo show Vivo is planning a big battery upgrade for its next foldable phone, the Vivo X Fold 6.

According to tipsters on Weibo, a dual cell battery likely for the X Fold 6 passed certification by China’s 3C authority earlier this year. It is made of two cells rated at 2807mAh and 3863mAh, adding up to 6670mAh total. The typical capacity is listed at 6900mAh.

3C certification in China

That is about a 15 percent jump compared to the Vivo X Fold 5 released last year, which used a 6000mAh BlueVolt 4th generation silicon carbon battery. The current model supports 80W wired and 40W wireless charging, and the new one is expected to keep those speeds.

This change would put the X Fold 6 among the highest capacity book style foldables you can buy, which is a big plus since battery life is a common concern for these devices.

Separately, the same source said another Vivo phone is in the works with an even larger power pack. Its rated value is 8905mAh, while typical capacity sits around 9100mAh. No name or series has been shared yet, but that would be one of the biggest batteries ever used in a mainstream Vivo handset.

Vivo has not confirmed either specification officially. More details about the X Fold 6 and that mysterious 9100mAh model should be revealed soon as the launch date approaches. However, tipster Digital Chat Station has shared some key specifications on Weibo, claiming to have had hands-on access with a prototype unit. Here are the main details he disclosed.
