OnePlus announced this week it will no longer launch new devices in Europe and North America. The company said the move is meant to streamline software development and deliver faster, more reliable updates to users worldwide.
Key Highlights
- No new OnePlus products will launch in Europe or North America moving forward
- Existing devices keep all promised software updates and security patches
- Warranty, repair services and customer support remain fully unchanged
- Eligible phones can optionally upgrade to ColorOS 17 after its official release
- Users who switch to ColorOS will be able to roll back to OxygenOS, with full details coming later
- Changes aim to streamline software development and speed up update delivery
- North America community website and app close August 16, 2026, users should back up personal content beforehand
- A single global OnePlus Discord server will replace the regional North American forum
- European community platform and OnePlus Store Europe continue normal operations
- All business, product and support activities in India stay completely unaffected
Under the new plan, customers who already own OnePlus devices in these two markets will not lose access to core services. The company stated clearly that all existing handsets will continue to receive software updates and security patches exactly as promised at the time of purchase. Warranty coverage, repair services and general customer support will also remain fully available and unchanged, so users do not face disruptions to after sales care.
On the software side, OnePlus is preparing to bring ColorOS 17 to eligible devices once the operating system is officially launched. Owners will be able to choose whether to install the new system or stay on their current version. For those who do make the switch, the company confirmed there will be an official way to revert back to OxygenOS later on. It said more specific instructions and timelines for the rollback process will be shared at a later date.
OnePlus explained that these changes are designed to simplify its software development work. By reducing the number of distinct platforms and regional variants it maintains, the brand aims to deliver updates faster and with greater reliability for all users globally.
Alongside product and software adjustments, community spaces are also being restructured. The North American community website and its companion mobile application will close permanently on August 16, 2026. OnePlus encouraged members to save or back up any personal posts, messages or content they wish to keep before that cutoff date. In place of the dedicated forum, the company will launch a single global Discord server where fans and customers from all regions can connect, share feedback and receive updates directly from the team.
Not all markets are seeing the same level of change. The European community platform and the official OnePlus Store Europe will continue to operate normally with no plans for closure or service reduction. Operations in India remain entirely unaffected as well, with product launches, software support, sales channels and community activities all carrying on as before.
Company representatives have not given a timeline for any possible return to new hardware releases in Europe or North America. For now, the brand says its priority is to deliver stable, long term support to its installed user base while building a more unified experience across its remaining active markets.
