Digital Chat Station posted a video on Weibo, comparing the Xiaomi 18 Pro’s privacy display with the iPhone 18 Pro. Both phones are shown side by side and viewed from different angles to show how much of the screen stays visible from the side. However, the iPhone 18 Pro does not have a native privacy screen, so it uses a separate privacy screen protector instead.
The tipster says Xiaomi’s whole 18 Pro series uses an RGB lossless pixel setup, with the privacy pixels controlled separately. When privacy is off, all pixels light up and the front view looks normal.
When privacy is on, the regular pixels turn off. Unless you hold the phone very close to your face, the front view still looks almost the same. The side privacy is a bit weaker than a privacy screen protector from iPhone 18 Pro, but the screen is brighter and clearer.
This means Xiaomi is building the privacy feature right into the display instead of making users buy a separate screen protector.
Xiaomi 18 Pro Series Launch Details
As we recently reported, Xiaomi confirmed the Xiaomi 18 Pro series will launch in China on September 23 at 7 PM local time. The lineup includes the Xiaomi 18 Pro and Xiaomi 18 Pro Max. Both phones will use a new 2nm flagship chip, dual 200MP Leica cameras, and bigger batteries.
The Xiaomi 18 Pro is expected to use the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6, while the Pro Max may use the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro. Battery capacity is 7,000mAh for the Pro and 8,500mAh for the Pro Max, both with 100W charging.
