Xiaomi has officially teased the next addition to its custom chip family, making the announcement through a post on its official Weibo account. The company shared that 459 days after launching the first flagship processor in the Xiaomi Xuanjie chip line, a new member is set to join the family. The post also revealed that Zhu Dan, head of the Xiaomi Xuanjie chip team, will share the latest updates in a live text and image broadcast today at 2 PM.
The new silicon is expected to lead the charge in Xiaomi’s upcoming flagship lineup, with the Xiaomi 18 Fold and Xiaomi Pad 8S Pro tipped to be the first devices running it.
Details shared by tipster Anvin on X reveal the chip carries the codename “Lhasa” and switches to a three cluster design. This is a shift away from the four cluster, 10 core layout used in the last generation. The exact split is still being worked out, with sources saying it could land as either a 1 plus 3 plus 4 configuration or a 1 plus 2 plus 5 setup.
- Prime core: 4.05GHz.
- Titanium (Performance) Cores: 3.42GHz.
- Little (Efficiency) Cores: 3.02GHz (up from 1.79 GHz on the Xring O1).
The top end prime core is said to hit 4.05 GHz, while the so called Titanium performance cores run at 3.42 GHz. Even the efficiency cores get a major bump up to 3.02 GHz, a huge jump from the 1.79 GHz seen on the Xring O1.
On the graphics side, the GPU is targeting around 1.5 GHz, up from roughly 1.2 GHz on the previous chip. Memory speed stays put at 9600 MT/s, carrying over unchanged from the last generation.
In a separate development, a foldable device thought to be the Xiaomi 17 Fold recently showed up on China’s 3C certification site. That listing points to a launch window in the third quarter of 2026. It is still unclear whether the 17 Fold or the rumored 18 Fold will actually be the one to debut the new chip, or if Xiaomi has multiple foldable launches lined up for later this year.
Pushing clock speeds higher across every core type shows Xiaomi is serious about closing the gap with the top chipmakers in both performance and battery efficiency. More concrete details should emerge during today’s live broadcast, giving fans their first official look at what the new Xuanjie chip brings to the table.
