OnePlus has officially revealed the camera specifications of its upcoming OnePlus 16 flagship through its official Weibo account. The phone will feature a 200MP main camera, a 50MP periscope telephoto lens, and three new imaging modes designed to give users more options for capturing photos.
OnePlus 16 Camera Specifications
The OnePlus 16 will feature a triple rear camera setup, accompanied by a 50MP front-facing camera.
- 200MP main camera: 1/1.4-inch sensor, f/1.6 aperture, and LUMO imaging technology. It also supports 4K video recording at 120fps.
- 50MP periscope telephoto camera: Sony IMX882 sensor with 3x optical zoom and up to 6x lossless zoom.
- 50MP ultra-wide camera: 116-degree field of view.
- 50MP front camera: Supports autofocus for improved selfie and close-up photography.
The 200MP main camera stands out as the biggest hardware upgrade. Its 1/1.4-inch sensor and f/1.6 aperture are built to capture sharper details and gather more light. The telephoto camera uses the Sony IMX882 sensor and delivers 3x optical zoom.
Three New Imaging Modes
Alongside the upgraded camera hardware, the brand has introduced three new imaging modes for the OnePlus 16.
- Master Mode: Designed to produce a more natural, film-inspired look with natural lighting.
- High-Pixel Mode: Designed to capture highly detailed images using the phone’s high-resolution 200MP main camera.
- 65:24 Widescreen Mode: Uses an ultra-wide 65:24 aspect ratio to create a cinematic, panoramic-style look.
The 65:24 mode is particularly notable because the same aspect ratio is associated with the panoramic format of Hasselblad’s XPan film camera. OnePlus previously partnered with Hasselblad for its smartphone imaging system, but its newer devices now use the company’s LUMO imaging technology.
Performance and Display
Beyond the camera upgrades, the OnePlus 16 will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 mobile platform. Qualcomm officially introduced the chipset as its highest-end Snapdragon 8 platform for this generation. It also comes with exclusive integration of the all new Fengchi Gaming Core to make games run smoother and more stable.
OnePlus has also confirmed a 185Hz refresh rate for the display. Our previous reports have suggested that the phone could use a custom BOE X4 display panel, although those display-material details have not been fully confirmed by the brand.
Availability
The brand has not shared the official launch date yet. But you can already pre-reserve the OnePlus 16 in China through its official website and reports say it should arrive sometime in October.
