Fox McCloud and his crew return in Star Fox, a high-octane adventure now available for the Nintendo Switch 2 system.
As previously reported, the game offers a cinematic retelling of the story from Star Fox 64. It features fully voiced dialogue, enhanced cutscenes, and a sweeping orchestral soundtrack. The game also introduces new difficulty options, including an Easy mode for newcomers and an unlockable Expert mode for players looking for a greater challenge.
The official trailer for the game can now be viewed on the Nintendo America YouTube channel, showcasing its gameplay mechanics, visual style, and key features that highlight the new experience on Nintendo Switch 2.
Every visual element has been updated to take full advantage of the Nintendo Switch 2 hardware. Throughout the adventure, players will soar over oceans of lava, navigate dangerous asteroid fields, and battle enemy forces at their stronghold on the planet Venom.
Beyond the main campaign, the game includes several additional ways to play. Challenge Mode features missions with special objectives that unlock rewards, including Holoviewer logs. Players can also switch to a first-person cockpit view for a more immersive flight experience.
For cooperative play, simply hand a Joy-Con 2 controller to a friend, who can join as either a gunner or a second pilot. Both the Story Mode and Challenge Mode support local multiplayer as well as online play through GameShare and GameChat.
Competitive players can jump into the new Battle Mode, which supports four-versus-four online team matches. Battles take place across three unique locations: Corneria, Sector Y, and Fichina. Each map features its own objectives and gameplay rules.
The game also introduces new ways to interact with friends during online sessions. With a compatible USB camera connected, players can use GameChat for face-to-face conversations while playing. Character Avatars let players appear as members of the Star Fox team or use augmented reality filters featuring accessories such as fox ears, sunglasses, and pilot helmets. These effects respond to facial movements, making conversations feel more expressive.
If you are new to piloting an Arwing or simply want to experience the updated visuals before purchasing, a free demo is available alongside the full game. It allows players to sample the action and explore some of the improvements introduced for the Nintendo Switch 2. The game is now available at the Nintendo Store. The digital edition is priced at $49.99, while the physical copy retails for $59.99.
